Welcome to the Pipestone Area School District website! As your Superintendent, I am excited to begin another school year filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities for students and staff alike. Our district is more than just a place where students come to learn—it’s a community where we all work together to support and inspire each other.

As members of a rural community, we understand the importance of strong connections. As a school community, we value hard work and determination.  We see opportunities.  We value teamwork and collaboration.  These are the values of our rural way of life and these are the values that shape who we are as a school district and guide us in everything we do.

Here, at Pipestone Area Schools, the dedicated team of teachers, support staff, administrators, and school board are committed to creating a positive and supportive environment for all students. We want each child to feel encouraged and safe.  We know these are essential for students and staff as we focus on improvement and embrace innovative ways to enhance the learning experience of each student. Whether it’s through new technology, creative teaching methods, embracing partnerships with local businesses and farms or implementing best practices in personalizing the learning experience, we are always striving to give our students the best education possible.

However, we can’t do it alone. Your involvement as parents and community members is crucial to our success. The superintendent is the chief executive officer of the district and is responsible for the management of the schools, the administration of all board approved policies and the conduct and quality of the district’s educational programs and support systems.

It is the superintendent’s responsibility to recommend policies to the board and when adopted by the board, implement, interpret and execute them. The position provides leadership and counsel to the school board in the development of the district’s mission and goals, provides professional support and advice to the school board on all matters considered by the board.

The superintendent also has direct supervisory responsibilities for the following personnel: executive director of teaching and learning; executive director of finance and business services; executive director of human resource services; director of communication; director of community education; director of special services; director of technology and the executive assistant to the superintendent.
