Welcome to the School Social Work Corner of the Pipestone Area School’s website! My name is Paige Thompson or "Mrs. Paige" as the kids call me. I am a School Social Worker for Pipestone Area Schools and the SW/WC Service Cooperative. This is my 5th year with the district. I am very much looking forward to the start of the school year and seeing so many smiling faces again! I am really blessed to have a job that I love in such a welcoming and rewarding school and community.

I am originally from Lennox, SD (20 minutes south of Sioux Falls). I graduated from Augustana College with my Bachelors degree. Go Vikings! I went on to graduate with a Masters in Social Work from the University of South Dakota and am a Licensed Graduate School Social Worker.

Being involved in professional organizations is very important to me. I hold membership in the Minnesota School Social Workers Association (MSSWA), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and the School Social Workers Association of America. I am currently serving as a Regional Representative for MSSWA and as President for NASW-South Dakota. I also serve as a trustee on the national board for the NASW Political Action for Candidate Election.

Summer 2016 was AMAZING! My husband, Nick, and I spent a lot of time with our beautiful daughter Madeline. I'll be sure to post more photos of our summer later. We went on a family vacation to Tennessee so Maddie flew for the first time! I was a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding (we've been best friends since 4th grade!). We also did all kinds of fun things like lots of walks with our two dogs, time at the pool, visiting the Butterfly House, Children's Museum, and Zoo, and reading A LOT. We were at our local library almost every day. We read constantly and went to lots of reading and singing classes for babies. Maddie also had two full weeks of swimming lessons, and she loved it! My husband is a nurse with Avera and our dog's names are Harper Lee (a big goldendoodle) and Bernie (our little rescue). We also made time for some of our favorites like camping, reading, home projects, and canoeing!

This year, there will be two of us working together at Brown and Hill. I'll be working with Mrs. Sarah so feel free to contact either one of us. We will collaborate and work together on providing services!
