Welcome back to a fresh new school year! I hope everyone had a fantastic summer and are ready to jump into the new school year. I always find the beginning of the school year to be exciting because it is a fresh start for everyone with classes, activities, and meeting new friends!
With the start of a new school year brings new individual counseling services, groups, and classroom guidance lessons. If you browse through my website, you will see what each service has to offer. If you feel your child would benefit from any of the services, please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
I look forward to working with all the students here at PAS. We, as a staff, strive to make each day a good day for all the students at our school. My door is always open for students to stop in at any time to share their ups and downs. A school counselor can help students thrive to be the best that they can be in their personal/social, academic, career development.
Let's make this year a great year! Please continue to check the Counselors Blog for updates!

It's been a great homecoming week so far! The school is decked out in green and the kids are showing their spirit every day by dressing up for dress up days and participating in the school activities. Homecoming week is a great way to participate in school activities and meet new friends. The student councils, both middle school and high school, do a great job including all students to take part in the homecoming festivities. Homecoming week will end with a football game matched up against the Redwood Valley Cardinals at 7pm so come out and cheer the Arrows on!

Organization is a key component in being successful in and out of the classroom! I am currently running an organizational skills group focusing on, lockers, assignment notebooks, highlighter usage (this is a must!), time management, and much more! This group runs for six weeks for a half hour each Wednesday morning. We ran a group in the Fall and are now doing a Spring one. This last session, we focused on cleaning out lockers and organizing them in a way that makes going in between classes more efficient. The kids were super excited about their fresh new lockers and were happy to show their fellow lockermates around them! If you feel your child would benefit from a group like this, please feel free to contact me and we will get your child started right away as this group is an open group. Below are some before and after pictures of some of the group members lockers!

Happy Thanksgiving Week! We have so much to be thankful for when reflecting on all that we are grateful for. In the month of November, our classroom guidance lessons focus on the term "gratitude". It is really fun to see all the different forms of gratitude our students have. The 6th graders did an activity during guidance reflecting on what they are thankful for. Many of the students said they are thankful for their family where others were thinking about buffalo wild wings! One of the best parts about Thanksgiving is to reflect on all that we are Thankful for. I hope everyone has a safe and fun Thanksgiving spent with family and friends!

Red Ribbon week is finally here! This is week is recognized nation wide to "Just say no to drugs, alcohol and violence". The school is decorated in RED and the students are partaking in the week in different ways. The middle school students decorated grocery bags provided by Hanks Foods and Coborns, which will be returned to be distributed to the community. The 5th and 6th grade students have made locker badges in honor of Red Ribbon Week. Our high school advanced Art class made coloring pictures for the elementary students to color to be entered into a coloring contest. On Wednesday, the students will be decked out in RED to support this messsage! This week would be a good week to have conversations with your child about the effects of drugs, alcohol, and violence. This is such a fun week to bring awaraness to our students about the impacts of this important message. Thank you for all of your support and guidance in educating our future in the importance of respecting ourselves and just saying no!
